Просмотров 877Месяц назад
Posture correction programs (and posture correctors) often fail to help you get better on the long run. Why? Lower Traps Strength Exercise With A Resistance Band
Просмотров 6353 месяца назад
To do this lower traps strengthening exercise (lower traps = lower trapezius, an important muscle helping you stabilize the shoulder blades to avoid rounded shoulders posture), - stand "like a monkey" - flatten your lower back - pull your elbows in direction of ribs, but don't pull beyond the torso (this would activate the rhomboids, and consequently strain the neck). Careful: your line of sigh...

To do this lats strengthening exercise (lats = latissimus dorsi, an important muscle helping you stabilize the mid back), - stand "like a monkey" - flatten your lower back - bring your straight arms in direction of your belly button. Careful: your line of sight must always be at 90° from your spine. This is an excellent exercise to fight rounded shoulders posture! Pain in the back, shoulder, ar...

Secret Lab Gaming Chair Review | Ergonomics & Posture On Titan Evo
Infinite thanks to you, Olivier! I am so lucky to come across your channel when I was searching for genuinely professional advice on office chairs. You explain all the details about different models and producers. And with the help of your expertise and explanations I bought the Steelcase Gesture chair without even trying it first (well, there's no Steelcase showroom anywhere nearer than 500+km). That's the best chair I ever had!
Thank you for this educational video. Very helpful
Thanks Olivier. This really helped my lower back pain
5:00
thanks a lot for the review
You made this one 3 years ago. I wish I’d found it then. Will try this out at work where I have to stand a lot. Thanks.
Thanks!
Just so everyone knows, the product used in the thumbnail is a shitty chair with a flat cushion, he chose the worst design on the market and says they're all like that, only shitty ones have flat cushions.
If you feel strain on scalene muscle and get tingling, is that normal? By strain do you mean like an expanding feeling ?
Sir I face pain in my tail bone area after I sit in My cruiser bike seat..I did add gel seat.It didn’t help much..But I think I need to work on my seating posture as u mentioned to make it correct.
Thank you this was too effective i had a bad experience with this muscle really i cant thank you enough Allah bless you and bring happiness to your life as u done it to me thaaank u
Thank you so much! This a game changing!!! I had psoas muscle chronic pain, since 1 year and no one recommended me to try this once i tried it I released the muscle omg!! Thank you
Today I learned that I sit on the toilet incorrectly.
Amazing guide. I was pretty much doing everything wrong - feels weird to adjust at first but I already feel more comfortable in my chair. Who knew a small adjustment makes so much difference!
Thank you for this. If the stretch you demonstrate here causes sharp pain in the wrist at that particular bone does that mean its too early to start the flex? And i just need to wait for now? Ive had the pain and tenderness for only a few days
Thank you. I'm going to lay off the mouse for a while. My right hand is getting from bad to worse and I cannot have that.
Currently sitting in an 8000-something Synchrone with red suede which I found recently second hand. I had a 6000-something FreeFloat before and I liked both mechanisms but the Synchrone is best. The Synchrone is the one on which the seat and back is synched.
Hi At Thank you ❤ I have mildly straightened cervical curvature as MRI report I feel soo many problem neck pain blur eye, chest pain. Knee pain and also some of my fingers pain also headache all time and vertigo . What should i do know please help me 🙏
Fantastic video. I've watched most of them, and am learning more and more about correct posture and ergonomics. Kudos for making these videos eloquently, detailed and fun to watch. I do have one question. I'm based in the UK, and was wondering where you got a replacement for the armrest padding? My Kinnops Plus 8 armest pads are also ripped and looking worse for wear. Many thanks
Hey dear! I got my armrests replaced once indeed, but they changed the whole armrest, not just the padding. To be very honest, I called the Swiss branch guys who know me very well and they just sent it by post. Have you tried to contact the UK office?
Thanks Olivier. I'll try the UK branch.
I'm now really hesitating between gesture and please 😂
Can you do a video on TMJ related issues? Masseters? Head muscles? Etc?
Very honestly, I'm not a great specialist of these issues. I have some understanding of the fact that these issues cause anterior neck muscles strain but osteopaths know this much better than I do....
But you said chairs with high lumbar support are bad. This has high one even if lower it to the max
Man, this was incredibly informative. I appreciate your effort and passion in doing this kind of video. People should always consult a physician when buying chairs.
Thank you for the compliment, my friend!! But to be very honest, most physicians don't know s...t about this stuff, which is why they asked me to create The Posture Academy for Healthcare Workers: oliviergirard.ch/en/posture-academy-online-program/
Dear Olivier (sorry for the long comment 😔) I have been having left rhomboid around area painful as if internally feeling injured.. from 2020.. after some heavy luggage lift or improper workouts by a stupid trainer.. no scapula winging but left scapula grinds and gives dislocation move when hands up &down on lying down position and when hand reaches front.. along with all physio and medications, massages made it worse. working from home and hands being on elongated position for mouse holding made it worse. from 2022 May there was SHOOTING SHOCK on right cervical-trapezius junction! I stopped massage and took control of posture correction and listening to body seriously as 11 doctors, chiropractors, physio, cortisol injection couldnt help and MRI showed no root compression. As i realized right trapezius lost strength and cant lift hands up for lifting anything which gives inneidtae nerve shock and very very painful, I researched and learned to activate lat, seratus anterior and rhomboid and trap mobilities and strengthening. the shock reduced in 2023 end but Not complete Recovery left rhomboid still grinding (though chest pain and bending down didnt give mid back pain) and painful and right cervical trapezius jun gives shock. As i was doing rhomboid shortening exercise with scapulas together and posterior tilt which helped for left but now right rhomboid is having severe pain with tightness from neck to trap. in summary left scapula grinding and rhomboid pain and right cervical shock with trap and mid pain making my life horrible and feels no use in living in pain. Unfortunately nobody understands this pain as they say its just manageable. I trust you will help with proper reply on this . have a sliding keyboard shelf under my desk and monitor to take care of posture. I have gone through below videos of you and implemented them along with dumbbells strengthening like shoulder shrug , overhead press etc. ruclips.net/video/uZIRF5IL9ag/видео.html ruclips.net/video/LdDnb3Miwss/видео.html ruclips.net/video/TOd_e5iZ9tM/видео.html ruclips.net/video/Tse6AWnVgpY/видео.html ruclips.net/video/LdDnb3Miwss/видео.html ruclips.net/video/82NQ7PQsqPY/видео.htmlsi=BTvk4En5FDXpzj5n
From what I can see in the picture where he's sitting in front of the screen he uses a second monitor in the lower right corner of the photo. He seems to not look at the standing desk monitor. And from that point of view his vision towards the lower screen while sitting at the desk seems perfectly fine to me - maybe a bit low even. I think you misunderstood the picture here. Because I think he uses 1 monitor when sitting and another one that is permanently set up for standing up. Probably mirroring the screen pictures at the same time. ;)
Where’s your office
In Switzerland...
I LOVE HIm !!!!! Divine healing here. Oliver Girard Stay Blessed
I didn't understand because I'm not good at English. When using dual screen, is it better to put the sub-monitor above the main monitor or under it? I'd appreciate it if you could answer.
The seat itself looks a bit inclined forward. Doesnt it make you slide forward?
Thanks for this information
You are the best on internet explaing these topics. Many thanx for posting !
Thank you finally someone say don't do big 3 early on
Why sitting is more compressive than standing? If I'm sitting correctly
I have no definite answer... but my best guess is that _ - your spine is compressed between mother gravity and your chair, whilst when you stand your hips and knees serve as dampers - we're more static sitting than standing, which may create quicker muscle tension, which results in spinal compression forces. Makes sense?
@OlivierGirard okay, but the best seat cushion is better than knees as damper, and the upper body weight is the same on the disc regardless of what's under. My guess is that when sitting, the muscles relax, and all pressure is on the disc, while when standing, the back muscles are tense and help in carrying the weight.
I didnt realize the 2nd rib was a cause for tos.
But back is never flat straight
But bending forward increase the pressure on lumbar discs a lottt
But I have dics l5s1. This will kill me
everybody has discs between L5-S1. You probably mean you have a disc hernia. If so, you need to understand that a hernia is not a lifetime sentence. You just need to do the necessary work to resolve it. As it isn't easy nor well taught out there, I have published a free protocol here: ruclips.net/video/jbV2s3o0VoQ/видео.html. Take your time, go step by step: it's a slow process.
So maybe a recliner chair is the best way to watch tv for long periods of time ?
indeed, for activities such as TV it can make sense. But there are conditions: headrest, and TV aligned with your line of sight. I have a full video on that topic: ruclips.net/video/07MOMwPqYB8/видео.html
Thank you! Would it be another possible solution, if he would use an adjustable keyboard tray and place it right above his thighs?
This wouldn't help much, unfortunately. What I mean with desk height is actually keyboard height. A keyboard tray would still hit his thighs, you see what I mean?
Deepak's multifunction chair has forward seat tilt capability! Please let him know if he is not aware!
Didn’t know you have the freefloat version of the plus!
I don't 😀... the freefloat is Plus 6 whilst I have Plus 8. But the 8784 has this forward tilt adjustment function, which is sometimes quite handy!!
Now I’m really confused! I have the 8784 but I don’t see how to tilt the seat pan! With the chair unlocked, it doesn’t feel like you can tilt it
Nevermind, turns out I just needed to push harder. Thank you!!
So I just gave you 2 things for free: a forward tilt function, and big arms 😂
G.O.A.T
It took me time to understand what this means... I initially thought of the animal 😂. I'm definitely getting old...
This was freaking useful. Thank you thank you. I have been struggling with a severe right pain/tenderness on the right side of my neck and never knew the muscles back there and that this may have been my problem. I always thought it was a never pain, so we even did some hand/muscle conduction tests that, in hindsight, now seem so useless since the pain doesn't seem to be nerve related but more so muscle. I hope i got this right. Thanks so much for the help. Will keep applying pressure and stretching (and i know my posture at the desk worsened this). Thank you!
Given that we don't have to place our forearms on the desk what is thee finger width between torso and the edge of the desk
Excellent video. Do you have any other brands of chairs and arm rest that would work
I thought it was bad to flatten/imprint the lower back into the floor. I thought we should strive for neutral spine? Should the rectus ando, onus be engaged during this exercise, or just the TVA?
Make a video about to watch tiktok, RUclips on ur phone while you sitting on the bed, sometimes I watch movies on my right or left side I use my hand and arm to support my head but now I’m scared if that can effect the shape of my skull in the future.
you know my friend, the problem with this type of request is that (with all due respect) they start from the wrong standpoint. The point is not HOW to watch your phone in bed, but WHETHER you should do it... I have a radical answer: consider that your phone messes up your neck 6x as much as your desktop when you sit equally well (no hard science behind, just a rough estimate). This is enough to consider your phone as an emergency device: if you're not dealing with an emergency, don't take your phone. I know I sound old-fashioned, boring and everything. But I didn't set the rules... Actually, I am now waiting for my food on the kitchen bar, and I went upstairs to take my laptop to type this, rather than doing it on my phone. Still not ideal, but better. That's the idea. Makes sense?
5:30 six foot 4 inches here and this CHAIR FITS ME PERFECTLY!
Oliver I love the video but my headrest keeps pushing my head forward when I sit in upright position can I possibly play around with other adjustments or what can I do ?
This happens a lot on some cars, as well as with some hair cuts (e.g., hair bun)... if you cannot resolve it with the headrest directly, the best you can do is to recline the backrest A LITTLE and push the lumbar support forward to compensate. There shouldn't be a big gap behind your shoulder blades, though (safety in case of a crash).
@@OlivierGirard gotcha I've tried that and I want to ask should my upper back still touch the backrest ? and how can I prevent forward head posture without the headrest pushing my head?
I like that you are realistic and honest. Thank you. I'm actually looking for foot rest myself.
thank you dear... whatever you take, bear in mind that a footrest should be big, flat, and rather horizontal...
